Course Overview

This Issue Intensive examines sexual abuse concerns in early childhood through a developmental and trauma-informed lens. Participants will engage in focused content, guided discussion, and structured reflection to strengthen recognition of indicators of concern and practice-based professional responses that support child safety, caregivers, and relational stability.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this event, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify developmentally informed behavioral, relational, and play-based indicators that raise concern for sexual abuse in early childhood.
  • Distinguish sexual abuse concerns from other sources of distress using trauma-informed and developmental criteria relevant to early childhood practice.
  • Implement trauma-informed professional responses that support child safety, engage non-offending caregivers, and reduce the risk of harm during reporting and system involvement.
