This session explores how nature-based practices and metaphors can deepen personal and professional reflection for those working with children, families, and communities. Participants will engage in guided reflective activities that connect somatic awareness, storytelling, and Indigenous wisdom to professional practice, exploring how nature-informed approaches can strengthen relational health and infant mental health work.

Professionals working in infant and early childhood mental health carry their own lived experiences into every relationship. In this reflective and experiential session, participants will examine how personal histories, identities, and experiences influence their work with children, families, and colleagues. Through guided reflection, discussion, and creative activities, participants will explore the concept of the “invisible backpack” and strengthen their capacity for reflective, self-aware practice.
