Course Overview
Fragmented Medicaid and Part C early intervention systems can delay access to critical developmental services for infants and toddlers, particularly for families with limited resources. This Lecture examines how policy and systems alignment can improve coordination between Medicaid and early intervention programs. Presenters highlight state strategies that address common barriers to service access and describe approaches that support integrated, family-centered systems of care. Drawing on policy examples and implementation experiences, the presentation explores opportunities for states to strengthen collaboration, reduce administrative silos, and improve timely access to developmental services for infants and toddlers.
Presenters: Alexandra Parma, MPA, First 5 Center for Children’s Policy; Elisabeth Wright Burak, MPP, MSW, Georgetown University Center for Children and Families; and Christine Cole, LICSW, IMHM-C®, Washington State Health Care Authority
