Course Overview
Early childhood professionals frequently apply the principle of “universal needs with individual variation” when understanding infant development, yet this framework is rarely extended to fathers. This Lecture reframes paternal engagement using this familiar developmental lens to help practitioners interpret diverse fathering behaviors with greater nuance and understanding. The presentation explores how cultural, relational, and contextual factors shape fathers' involvement and caregiving experiences. Participants will learn how applying a strengths-based developmental perspective can support more inclusive, responsive engagement with fathers and strengthen partnerships with families.
