Course Overview

The National IECMH Diversity Collective is a community of primarily Black and Brown infant and early childhood mental health professionals committed to collective healing and social justice within the field. This Issue Intensive introduces the origins, purpose, and evolving work of the Collective, highlighting how cultivating critical consciousness has supported both individual healing and collective action. Presenters describe the Collective's guiding pillars and practices that support community, reflection, and justice-oriented professional growth. The presentation highlights how storytelling, relational reflection, and cultural wisdom contribute to practice-based evidence that informs systems change. Participants explore how healing-centered professional communities can strengthen workforce well-being, support more responsive services for families, and contribute to sustained social justice movement building within the infant and early childhood mental health field.

Presenters: Faculty: Eva Marie Shivers, JD, PhD, Indigo Cultural Center; Amittia Parker, PhD, LMSW, MPA, Georgetown University; and Carmen Rosa Noroña, LICSW, MS.Ed., IECMH-E®, Boston Medical Center
