Bunny to Bunny: Sing Me Your Song

Bunny to Bunny is the first research-based Board Book Series of its kind, specifically created to foster healthy and playful interactions between a child and their grown-up. The Bunny to Bunny approach is unique with pictures and rhymes in the book that are designed to intuitively illicit the kinds of actions (e.g., back and forth interactions, eye gazing etc.) that are beneficial to child development. The book fills a gap in this space of board books and picture books for families with children ages 0-5 because of the inclusive and culturally responsive use of rhyme and song combined with carefully curated illustrations to represent and support universal themes of play, school readiness and health and well-being through content that is simple and accessible.

The first book in the Bunny to Bunny series; Sing Me Your Song–a collaboration born by the Learning Sciences Exchange–is a playful collection of rhymes and poems that follows characters who personify the reader and their child. Its lilting format invites readers into playful adult-child exchanges, through an approach the Bunny to Bunny team calls “love, listen and learn”. “Love” represents how children need warm and secure bonds with the important adults in their life; “Listen” represents how adults who listen to a child’s cues are more likely to respond in understanding ways to a child’s needs – this is where the reciprocal rhymes and songs come in; and “Learn” represents how children who feel loved and secure are confident to explore, ready to learn, and cope better with challenging or unpredictable situations.
